Non-Fiction Pick 2017!?

We’ve got big things brewing that we’ll be letting you in on when we record our Historical Fiction podcast in a few days. In the meantime, we need your help picking our non-fiction selection for March. We’ve had a streak of really good books for this category so don’t let us down: Brown: What Being Brown in the World Today Means (to Everyone) by Kamal Al-Solaylee or Mexican Hooker #1: And My Other Roles Since the Revolution by Carmen Aguirre

Does it matter? I don’t know. Should we be boycotting those authors? Will we be buttressing the patriarchy if we choose this book? Any thoughts from anybody?

      • lauratfrey says:

Well since you asked 🙂 I don’t really do the “boycott authors who don’t subscribe to my worldview” thing. So I’m not boycotting but do feel a bit of… aversion? I bought my husband a book by one of ’em (not Boyden lol) because it was a book about fatherhood and it had been recommended to me… but like, I wouldn’t go seek out an Atwood book right now.
